Surface Trails and Green River

Mammoth Cave National Park covers over 52,000 acres of rolling hills and forests above the famous cave system. You will find more than 80 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding, and biking.

Entry to the park and its surface features is free. You can spend the day walking paved paths near the visitor center or hiking deeper into the south-central Kentucky woods. Waterways like the Green River offer distinct landscapes away from the underground tour routes.

Remember to download offline maps using the NPS App, as cell service is spotty. Pack bug spray, tick repellent, water, and snacks for your above-ground activities.
